Google Chrome BetaBe Ready
It's official, the Google web browser Chrome has officially discarded it's beta status, and is now technically a um, "real" browser.
The hoopla over the new Chrome web browser from Google died down some time ago, leaving way for the blogging community to focus on other announcements, like:
Gmail resurrecting the text messaging service
Gmail adding a to-do list
Gmail adding themed backgrounds
But with news of Google VP Marissa Mayer telling Michael Arrington that Chrome would move from beta in the "near future", the spotlight again turned to the Google Chrome browser. There are several clear reasons as to why it's time for Google to ditch the beta, primarily so that PC vendors/OEMs can package the browser once it is technically released in full.
Well, the "near future" is today. Some folks are a bit upset, acknowledging that Chrome isn't really ready for a stable release. And while we recognize that Google still has some development and plug-ins to be working on, we look forward to seeing how Chrome does.
Expect to hear about Google Chrome quite a bit for a few days, and hear all manner of competition-hungry calls for the next battle in the "Browser War." No comic this go around, but you can spend some time checking out some more blog posts:
